| Andrew Montgomery offers 25 years of experience in all aspects of architectural services including master planning, architectural design, interior design, and project management. Andrew first opened his full service architectural firm, A P Montgomery in 1992. His current residential interests include master planned retirement and resort communities, commercial and institutional, as well as custom residential projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. His innovative work specializes in combining environmentally sensitive site planning, and the use of sustainable non-toxic construction materials and methods.
Based in Portland since 1986, Andrew interned at WEGroup where he participated on project teams that designed retirement communities and assisted living centers. During ten years of combined experience at KSWA (now Waterleaf), BML, and BOORA, he assumed project leadership responsibilities for numerous commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. For several years Andrew was a principal partner with HMA Architects developing resort communities and multifamily housing. In 1997, he formed TERRAFORMA - Green Architecture & Planning in the Northwest Tradition.
A graduate of Washington State University’s School of Architecture in 1986, Andrew earned two Architectural degrees with an emphasis in architectural design and town planning. In 1984, he attended an intensive program of urban design and planning, and multi-family housing at the prestigious Architectural Association in London, England. In addition, Andrew has “hands on” experience in construction, vital to understanding the industry.
Andrew served as Chairman of the American Institute of Architects Committee on Housing and is currently a member of the Washington County Housing Advocacy Group. Previously, he held the position of chairman of the Committee for Intern Development and served on the board of directors for the Portland chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He has also authored a column for the Portland AIA newsletter, Architalk. His work has been featured in a number of Northwest publications.
Andrew’s free time is spent outdoors. He is an avid fisherman and enjoys skiing, hiking, camping and scuba diving. He and Dana have two daughters, Auna and Ariel.
Dana Montgomery brings to the TERRAFORMA team 15 years of experience in full service interior design. Her current projects include custom residential, restaurant, and commercial interiors for individual and corporate clients in the Pacific Northwest and California. Her innovative work reflects the creative use of natural, sustainable materials that are acquired locally and are non-toxic. With a keen eye to detail and a flair for personalized service, Dana’s design concepts are functional and reflect our clients’ personal needs and lifestyles. Her portfolio reveals a fine sense of traditional, transitional, and contemporary themes.
She also coordinates the planning, budgeting, purchasing and installation of all our interior environments. Dana studied interior design and fashion merchandising at Washington State University and with her husband, formed TERRAFORMA in 1997. A fine artist, her jewelry and fabric art are represented in several galleries in the Northwest. |
